From fields to the future: 615 ABE professionals pledge to transform Philippine agri-fisheries sector

Six hundred fifteen (615) new Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (ABE) were officially welcomed into their profession during the oath-taking ceremony held at Tent City, Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park on October 20, 2023. The momentous occasion marked the culmination of their hard work and dedication, as they successfully passed the ABE Licensure Examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Professional Regulatory Board of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PRBABE) across various locations nationwide last September.

DA-BAFE paves the way for agri-fishery workforce to be globally competitive

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) spearheaded a workshop concerning the crucial role of manpower in the country’s agricultural and fishery sector. Various stakeholders, including government agencies, local government units (LGUs), regulatory bodies, professional organizations, and state universities and colleges (SUCs), collaborated from October 18 to 20, 2023 for the development of a roadmap in support to the agri-fishery sector’s workforce.

Mountain Province pioneers in implementing Agricultural Modernization Program: A collaboration with DA-BAFE showcasing the Mandanas Ruling and Devolution

The Mountain Province Highland Agriculture and Fisheries Infrastructure Modernization Program 2023-2028, initiated by DA-BAFE, aims to help feed the province’s population, and increase the income of farmers, who comprise about 80% of the labor force in the province. DA-BAFE hosted a crucial meeting with Mountain Province Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. and the Office of the Provincial Agricultural and Biosystems Engineer (OPABE) Officer-in-Charge, Engr. Winston Beyden to discuss the said program.

Enhancing rice and corn mechanization: A collaboration between DA-BAFE and FAO

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) recently hosted an inception meeting to launch a joint initiative focused on bolstering the mechanization of rice and corn production. The BAFE-FAO Project, TCP/PHI/3907, titled “Improving Capacities on the Adoption of a Harmonized Mechanization Index,” aims to streamline and enhance mechanization processes across rice and corn production, addressing longstanding challenges within the agricultural sector.
