DA-BAFE convenes stakeholders for local agri-fishery machinery manufacturing industry roadmap

To develop a comprehensive master plan for the agricultural machinery manufacturing industry in the Philippines, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) convened stakeholders from the private sector, members of the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers and Distributors Association Foundation, Inc. (AMMDA), regional agricultural engineers, partners from the academe, and representatives from government agencies on the 1st Stakeholders Online Meeting for the project, “Roadmap to Transform the Philippine Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing into a Competitive, Productive, Innovative and Sustainable Industry.”

DA-BAFE leads planning of agri-fishery infrastructure investments

Agriculture Secretary William Dar has issued Memorandum Order No. 5, Series of 2021, a memorandum on the preparation of DA’s agri-fishery mechanization and infrastructure plan with the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) as the lead agency in planning agricultural and fisheries infrastructure investments.

The memorandum states that BAFE is directed under RA 10601 (AFMech Law) to spearhead the preparation of the National Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Program (NAFMP) which serves as a guide in the national planning, programming, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and regulation of agricultural and fisheries mechanization programs and projects.

Sec. Dar directed all officials and employees of DA, including its bureaus, attached agencies, and corporations, DA service units and regional field offices to extend their full support and cooperation to BAFE on the review, updating, and implementation of NAFMP.

PUBLIC ADVISORY: Application for PTO and CC

In response to the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases in Quezon City, SRA buildings including the BAFE office and its premises will undergo disinfection on March 15-16, 2021. All BAFE personnel are prohibited from entering the office premises during those dates. However, applications for the Registration and Issuance of Permit to Operate (PTO) for Agricultural and Fisheries Machinery Manufacturers, Fabricators, Assemblers, Distributors, Dealers, Importers, and Exporters (MFADDIEs), and Issuance of Certificate of Conformity (CC) for Agricultural and Fisheries Machinery will be accepted and processed online by sending an e-mail to sred.applications@gmail.com. Processing of payment for issuance of CC at the BAFE-Cash and Disbursement Section located at the DA Central Office, Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City will resume on March 18, 2021.

PUBLIC ADVISORY: Disinfection of SRA Building and premises

Webinar on “Creating Equal Opportunities for Women and Men in Agriculture” 

In celebration of the 2021 International Women’s Day, the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) together with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) will be conducting a webinar on “Creating Equal Opportunities for Women and Men in Agriculture” on 9 March 2021 at 09:00 – 11:00 AM via Zoom. The webinar aims to gather key stakeholders in the agricultural sector to discuss important topics surrounding women in agriculture.

The discussion will focus on challenges facing women and opportunities for them in mechanizing agriculture and introducing advanced technologies like laser land leveling (LLL).

DA-BAFE welcomes new permanent employees

Six newly appointed permanent employees of the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) took their oath of office administered by Director Ariodear C. Rico in the agency’s new office at the Sugar Regulatory Administration on February 16, 2021. The new appointees are Marshall Louie Asis (Information Officer II under Office of the Director), Jimmy Caldoza Jr. (Information Systems Analyst II under PPMD), Helaisha Nissi Dumaguing (Engineer II, PPMD), Benjamin Baradi II (Engineer I, EPDSD), Julius Abe Peralta (Computer Programmer, SRED) and Ace Philip Dupla (Engineer II, SRED). After the oath-taking ceremony, Dir. Rico congratulated and welcomed the newly appointed employees who all passed through a rigid selection process under the DA-BAFE Personnel Selection Board or PSB.

DA-BAFE moves to new office

The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) has transferred from the DA-Central Office building in Elliptical Road to the Sugar Regulatory Administration compound along North Avenue, Quezon City.
