Mountain Province, a region known for its stunning rice terraces, is set to receive technical assistance from the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE). This initiative follows the implementation of Provincial Ordinance No. 465 through Administrative Order No. 13, series 2023, sponsored by Mountain Province Board Member Henry K. Bastian.

The Philippines, through the Philippine Technological Council – Women Engineers Network (PTC-WEN), has been awarded to host the 20th International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists (ICWES20) in August 2026. It will be the first time that the Philippines will host the global gathering of women engineers and scientists.

Several government agencies have joined forces to address food security at the barangay level. The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) is leading this initiative, in collaboration with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Labor and Employment – Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (DOLE-BWSC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).

Representatives from the Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE), academe, local government units of Bayawan City and the Provincial Government of Cebu, Regional Agricultural Engineering Divisions (RAEDs) of Region VI, VII, and VIII participated in the Workshop on the development of BAFE Regulatory Enforcement Guidelines cum Consultation on the RA 10601 (AFMech Law) IRR held from July 17 to 21, 2023 in Mandaue City, Cebu.

To enable the agricultural and fisheries sectors withstand the impacts of climate change, the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) is committed on capacitating Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (ABEs) to design climate-resilient agri-fisheries infrastructure. The government can help reduce the vulnerability of the agricultural and fisheries sectors to these impacts by designing and building infrastructure that is resilient to the impacts of climate change, said DA-BAFE Director Ariodear Rico.

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) organized an inter-agency workshop to discuss the inputting and updating of data sharing for the farm-to-market roads network. The workshop held on June 30, 2023 brought together representatives from various government agencies involved in Farm-to-Market Road projects namely the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Tourism (DOT), Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), National Irrigation Administration (NIA), and Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS) to discuss ways to improve data sharing and collaboration.

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE) conducted the Farm-to-Market Road Development Program (FMRDP) Mid-Year Assessment from June 26 to 27, 2023 in Quezon City. Participants in the said activity of DA-BAFE, as the Secretariat and Project Management Office (PMO) of FMRDP, were representatives from Regional Agricultural Engineering Divisions (RAEDs) of the DA – Regional Field Offices (DA-RFOs) and FMRDP staff.

The National Farm-to-Market Roads Network Plan 2023-2028 was unveiled to the public during the 10th Anniversary Opening Program of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (DA-BAFE). DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban and Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs Mark Llandro Mendoza led the unveiling ceremony held at the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) Hall on June 20, 2023.
